Hello Everyone,
We are still looking at the 8th commandment "You shall not steal". The question could be asked by some "Why should I be honest?"
The number one reason is...I am being watched by God.
People steal because they think they can get away with it, and they think nobody is going to know about it. If you knew when you stole something (like towels in the hotel) that everybody was going to know about it, would you steal them anyway? Most people would answer "no" to that one.
So Satan comes along and he says: "Nobody's going to know. Besides you owe it to yourself, that employer is ripping you off and should be paying you more. It is okay to take those supplies home. It is okay to take that equipment...nobody is ever going to know. Nobody will ever find out." Wrong!
The most important person knows...that is God. He is the one you're going to have to give an account to, not anybody else.
Job 34:21-22 "His eyes are on the ways of men; he sees their every step. 22 There is no dark place, no deep shadow, where evildoers can hide.
Nothing escapes God's view. I may fool other people, I may fool the government, I may fool the insurance company when I turn in a dishonest claim, but I am not fooling God. He is the guy I've got to report to.
One day I will stand before Him and give an account. I will explain to God why I stole something that wasn't mine, and why I did steal when He said clearly don't do it. That's when it's going to count. I'm being watched by God.
If you're a parent, you're not only being watched by God, you are being watched by your kids. Values are caught not taught. What is my lifestyle communicating to my kids? Pro. 20:7 LB "It is a wonderful heritage to have an honest father."
One of the greatest gifts you can give your children is integrity. Having a parent of integrity is a great, great blessing.
I'm being watched by unbelievers. The Bible says, "Let your light shine so people can see your good works and praise your Father." There are people you work with who may not like your personality and they may disagree with your faith, but they better respect your integrity.
We are being watched let's do the right thing.
