Hello Everyone,
We behave badly toward others because our fellowship with God is not what it ought to be.
Then we try to do the things that will increase our fellowship with God but we do them in the wrong way.
End result? We fall flat on our spiritual faces. The solution is so simple that God tells Isaiah in chapter 58 verse one to "shout it loud, do not hold back".
God wasn’t just saying this because He’s angry, but because He’s a loving God who wants to make sure everybody gets the message.
THE WAY WE DO WHAT WE DO FOR GOD IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS WHAT WE DO FOR GOD!
Fasting can be a truly spiritually uplifting experience but only if it’s done for the right reasons.
Then, and only then, does it produce the right results. The exciting thing is what happens when we get it right - when we do the right thing with the right motive!
Over and over again in Isaiah 58 God promises that if we get it right He will answer our prayers! It’s a "when" and "then" proposition.
WHEN we fast and pray for the right reasons..."THEN your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear." (Isaiah 58:8a)
WHEN we fast and pray for the right reasons..."THEN your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard." (Isaiah 58:8b)
(That’s like God saying, "I’m going to watch your back. The enemy won’t be able to attack you from behind where you are most vulnerable.")
WHEN we fast and pray for the right reasons..."THEN you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I." (Isaiah 58:9a)
"If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
(Sound like your marriage? Your office? Your relationship with other believers?)
And if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, THEN your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday." (Isaiah 58:9b-10)
"The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail." (Isaiah 58:11)
Evangelism must be the HEARTBEAT of the Saints.
· While people talk about their culture, let the church talk about Calvary.
· While Americans discuss the problems with the economy, let the church proclaim the power of salvation.
· We need to be willing to:
turn pulpits into fishing boats,
our automobiles into ambulances,
our homes into shelters, our bodies into the temples of the Holy Spirit,
and our churches into hospitals where the souls of men and women can be healed by the GRACE of God.
The tide is going out. People are calling for someone to save them, as they are about to sink under the surf for the last time.
Suspend the lifeguard meeting and reach them before it is too late!
All for Jesus
