Hello Everyone,
There is also in this verse a suggested progression in prayer. Read it again with me.
Matt 7:7-11
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
The very words: ask, seek and knock suggest an ever-increasing intensity in prayer.
1. Asking. There are some things that the need is so clear that we just ask for them.
2. Seeking. Seeking is a deeper level of prayer than just asking.
Sometimes we need to first seek God’s will before we know what to pray for.
But God has made provision for us even in these times we read in: (Romans 8:26-27)
“… the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (27) Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
3. Knocking. The knocking here is seeking entrance, or desiring fellowship.
It is time to pray to ask seek and knock to turn up the intensity for our families our friends our church and our country.
WHY? Because greater things are still to come! But they will only come through prayer.
Have a great day.
Pastor Phil
