Hello Everyone,

To the last generation, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy was a historical marker. What were you doing? Where were you?

To this generation, the attacks on the World Trade Centers in New York City, the Pentagon in Virginia, and the crash in Shanksville Pennsylvania, on September 11, 2001 will be a historical marker. What were you doing? Where were you?

Today, we salute the men and women in uniform who gave their lives that day, and who continue to this today.

Police officers, firefighters, emergency personnel and military personnel, all live lives of commitment, dedication, and sacrifice in helping others, and serving the community.

These are Christian virtues. They don’t make you a Christian, but they are characteristics that should mark the lives of those who follow Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, "Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will pre-serve it." (Luke 17.33)

On 9/11 2001:

· 343- New York Fire Fighters

· 23 - New York City Police

· 37 - Port Authority Officers

· 3000- Innocent Civilians Died

It was the most devastating attack ever to happen on American soil; costing more lives than even the attack on Pearl Harbor (2,500 Americans died then) Nineteen cowardly individuals, who killed in the name of religion, carried out this attack).

The last change in the Pledge of Allegiance occurred on June 14 (Flag Day), 1954 when President Dwight D. Eisenhower approved adding the words "under God". As he authorized this change he said:

“In this way we are reaffirming the transcendence of religious faith in American’s heritage and future; in this way we shall constantly strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever will be our country’s most powerful resource in peace and war”

Greater things are still to come!

Pastor Phil
