Hello Everyone,
As Jesus rode into town, the people let loose with joyous, open praise.
A crowd of people, probably from His home region of Galilee, gather and shout Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.
By Jesus’ time, Hosanna had become a common shout of Jewish praise to God.
As we said Hosanna literally meant to “SAVE” – To say Hosanna was to praise.
The text says the people were laying things down before Jesus.
They were laying down their coats and branches from the fields.
By spreading their coats on the road, as well as freshly cut branches, it was their version of rolling out the red carpet.
What a scene that must have been. The Pharisees told Jesus He ought to rebuke his disciples.
Jesus said, “I tell you, if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out!” (Luke 19:40)
God deserves praise. And if people won’t do it, His Creation will continue to cry out.
Mountains, oceans, sun, moon, stars, trees, hills and even rocks scream out the praises of the Creator – the One God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The One who happened to ride into Jerusalem on a donkey to face a cruel death at the hands of sinful men is the One who created everything that is.
And yet it is this One who came for ONE sole purpose and that is to SAVE! HOSANNA! SAVE! SAVE NOW!
Verse 9 "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!"
It was a Triumphal Entry in the greatest sense of the word.
Not as a deliver of Roman Rule.
He rode in as the King who was coming to conquer death, hell and the grave.
He was coming in as the conqueror of Satan and every power of darkness and evil.
He was coming in to establish His victory over sin once and for all.
He was coming in so you and I could be SAVED!
GLORY! Greater Things Are Still TO Come!
Pastor Phil
