Hello Everyone,
In Luke 11:1-4 Jesus gives His disciples “The Lord’s Prayer” this is a Model of how we should pray read it with me.
Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
2 So He said to them, “When you pray, say:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.” NKJV
What a privilege it is to call God "our Father" and to be a part of His family!
This was the privilege of the Israelites in Old Testament times.
Isaiah, after confessing Israel’s sins, cried out,
Isaiah 64:8“But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.” NKJV
The psalmist, in celebrating the covenant given to David, told how God encouraged David to cry out,
"You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior" (Psalm 89:26).
In the Old Testament God’s fatherly characteristics were clearly portrayed in His care and pity or mercy.
Psalms 27:10 “For my father and my mother have forsaken me, But the LORD will take me up.”
Psalms 103:13 “As a father pities his children, So the LORD pities those who fear Him.”
Isaiah 1:2 “Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the LORD has spoken: "I have nourished and brought up children, And they have rebelled against Me;”
Isaiah 63:7-8
7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD And the praises of the LORD,
According to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, And the great goodness toward the house of Israel, Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, According to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses. 8 For He said, "Surely they are My people,
Children who will not lie." So He became their Savior. NKJV
With God as “Our Father” Greater Things Are Still To Come!
