Hello
Everyone,
Let’s get
right to it. Where then does goodness
come in?
Goodness is a fruit characteristic that is best given away by the example of our lives.
Goodness is a fruit characteristic that is best given away by the example of our lives.
Our main
text gives several ways in which goodness, as one expression of living
for God, is expressed:
Starting with Ephesians 4:25 Paul shares some very important ways that goodness is a part of our witness:
Goodness is expressed in our attitudes – Ephesians 4:26, 27, 30 and 5:1-2

4:26 “Be
angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on
your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil.
30 And do not grieve the
Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
5:1-2
Therefore be imitators
of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has
loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a
sweet-smelling aroma.
Our attitudes are reflections of the way we look at life.
Uncontrolled/uncontained anger makes a
statement about our attitudes.
Anger is a
part of life.
Uncontained/uncontrolled anger is the problem here.
Psalm 4:4 In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah

Goodness
can be disabled when anger is left unchecked and dealt with properly.
Psalm 4:4b another translation says “Think about it overnight and remain
silent.”
Goodness can serve as a corrective to unchecked anger.
We bring sorrow to God when anger, not goodness, controls us.
