Hello Everyone,
The apostle Paul starts 2 Corinthians chapter one verse three by praising God the Father.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
He praises Him first for being the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and secondly for being the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. Paul came to know that God is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ by Divine revelation. In Acts 26 Paul testifies that one day at about noon on the road to Damascus he had a Divine revelation and he came to see that God is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Now in 2 Corinthians Paul also praises God for being the Father of compassion and the God of ALL comfort. In verse 4 we come to know how Paul came to this knowledge.“Who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” How did Paul know that God was the father of compassion and the God of all comfort? He knew this by personal experience.
By what God did to him, for him, and through him! There are some things we can only know by Divine revelation and there are some things God wants us to know through personal experience. One thing God wants us to know by personal experience is that He is the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.
Oh How HE Loves Us!!
Pastor Phil
