Hello Everyone,
What does this supernatural comfort we find in 2 Corinthians 1 do in the life of the believer? It causes you to rely on God (V9b)“But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.”People are relying on one of two things to get them through life. They are either relying on themselves or they are relying on God.
This supernatural comfort also delivers you. (V10)“He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers”. Notice the tenses: He has delivered us past tense He will deliver us present tense He will continue to deliver us – future tenseThis comfort that comes to us from God is not only supernatural but it is also overflowing.“So that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” (v4b)For those of us who are comforted by God are we to keep that comfort to ourselves? The best people we can reach with the comfort of God is people who are just like us.“God can’t use a person to the maximum, until he or she has been hurt deeply.” A.W. TozerHow do we access the comfort of God? By prayer (v11)
“as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many”.
Personal prayer and the prayers of others allow us to access the comfort of God.Praise God for how He is comforting you in the middle of your sufferings.Ask Him to use you to comfort others.
Oh How HE Loves Us!!
